I'm loving these new crackle ruin guys. I don't know why I've never gone crazy with crackling over polymer base beads before. It's how I did some of the effects on the air dry pottery clay beads, but until now I didn't really even think of it with the polymer beads. The cool thing is that the crackle medium crackles Sculpey gloss glaze as well as paint, so it opens up a lot of possibilities not having to paint. What I mean is--it crackles a completely clear, glossy coating, so anything under that layer will look deep and encased under the crackles.
I wasn't sure how it would work, so I just used it over plain white bases here. The color in the cracks is just wipe-awayed paint. I can't wait to experiment with it more.
These are some new beads using a really fun mirror image type technique. I'm like the queen of pareidolic hallucination, so I may as well use it for all it's worth. I saw a couple of crow or raven type birds in this first one, so I slightly manipulated the images to look more birdlike, and then chose some good mates out of a bunch of abstract ones to make a Raven set. Poe is good year round. Lots more black and white sets coming up.
